Trade turnover between Russia and the EU in 2022 reached an eight-year maximum

Trade turnover between Russia and the European Union at the end of 2022 reached an eight-year maximum. At the same time, imports of goods from the Russian Federation have reached a historic maximum, and a record deficit has formed in trade with Moscow, writes RIA Novosti with reference to Eurostat data.
According to analysts, the import of goods from Russia to the EU last year reached 203.4 billion euros. This figure is only 230 million below the record level of 2012.
At the same time, an expert from EU countries in Russia was reduced. The indicator amounted to 55.2 billion euros – this is the minimum since 2005.

Total turnover was the highest since 2014. It increased by 2.3% and reached 258.6 billion euros.

Changes, and even more, a relaxation of the sanctions regime and the abolition of certain measures against Russia are not yet expected. This was announced at the beginning of March by the official representative of the EU external service, Peter Stano.
