In Yaroslavl, on the Oktyabrsky Bridge on the evening of March 7, a man was filmed trying to commit suicide. Citizens passing on the bridge noticed a man who had stepped over the railing and was about to jump. Witnesses called the emergency number.
The police were the first to arrive. A policeman tried to divert the attention of a potential suicide in order to prevent him from making the biggest mistake of his life.
“The senior officer of the PPSP department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Police Ensign Vladimir Lobakov, after assessing the situation, began to communicate with the man, trying to distract him. Despite the fact that the man did not make good contact, the policeman managed to capture his attention for a while,” the official statement from the Ministry of the Interior reports.
At this time, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived on the bridge, who very quickly and professionally recorded a citizen who was trying to jump from the railing onto the ice and pulled him onto the bridge. After that, the man was transferred to a specialized medical institution.
