Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Berlin will augment its backing for Kiev should China furnish armaments to the Russian Federation – NSO

March 8, 2023, 11:50 am – Public Information Service – OSN German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Berlin would increase its support for the Kiev regime if China started supplying arms to Moscow.

On Deutschlandfunk radio, Pistorius was asked what kind of reaction to expect from the German leadership if the Chinese side decided to supply arms to Russia in the Ukrainian conflict.

The Minister replied as follows: “This means, first of all, that we must continue to support Ukraine… only more. Because we have to do our best, and we do.

However, according to him, such a scenario would become “depressing”. Pistorius also did not rule out the possibility of imposing sanctions against Beijing by the European Union in such a combination of circumstances. He expressed the opinion that this would be the direct influence of the PRC on the conflict in Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also highlighted the alliance’s concern over the possible supply of arms to Russia from China.

Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said Beijing should not supply weapons or dual-use items to Moscow. Read more about this in the article from the public press service.
