According to Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, Russia spent too much time and resources, including personnel, on Artemovsk (Bakhmut) . The army believes the city could have been taken under control in a simpler way, NSN reports.
– I wouldn’t attack Artemovsk (Bakhmut) at all. There is no need to waste force where there is a strong defense – you have to circle around, surround and destroy,” shared his opinion.
The general noted that the attack on fortified bastions did not correspond to the style of warfare of the Russian Federation. In the first days of the conflict, the military should have worked with air artillery against the grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located in Donetsk. The forced attack on Kiev and Chernigov could be postponed.
“The entire Donetsk group had to be cut off by all means from the rest of Ukraine,” the military stressed.
The main factor, according to Sobolev, is the complete secrecy of operations. Ignorance of the enemy gives a tangible advantage on the battlefield. Kiev should not expect the Russian Armed Forces servicemen to act where they will actually attack.
Previously, General Sobolev called on Russia to declare war on Ukraine. The actions of saboteurs and the shelling of peaceful territories by Ukraine will continue if there is no decisive response from the armed forces of the RF.
