The head of the Ukrainian defense department, Oleksiy Reznikov, estimates that the Ukrainian armed forces need one million 155 mm and 105 mm shells, with which the Ukrainian army could resist the Russian armed forces and go to the counteroffensive. Reznikov spoke about it ahead of a meeting with heads of relevant ministries of EU countries in Stockholm.
The minister also noted that the Ukrainian army has to fire 90,000 to 100,000 artillery shells every month.
Procurement priorities also include air defense systems, armored vehicles and various types of ammunition. According to Reznikov, a large number of Leopard tanks will allow the Ukrainian armed forces to create a “steel fist” and go on the counteroffensive.
In addition, the Swedish capital will discuss a plan drawn up by Josep Borrell, according to which it is planned to use another 1 billion euros for the rapid transfer of 155 mm artillery shells to the Ukrainians from the stocks of a number of countries, as well as to increase the production of shellfish in the states of the region.
Earlier, the UK edition of the Express ran an article about covert British special forces missions in Asia and Africa to search for black market ammunition to send to Ukraine. This applies in particular to 122 mm shells for Soviet-made howitzers.
