The Landsrecht upheld the decision of the Northeast District Court of the alleged sex offender and she will be in custody until March 31. A total of 14 of the woman’s cases are being investigated, but she is accused of, among other things, aggravated assault and deprivation of liberty, as well as numerous cases of theft. The alleged offenses were committed in both Akureyri and Reykjavík.
In the District Court’s detention order, which was upheld by the National Court, the incidents under investigation are traced. Among other things, he reports burglaries and thefts that the woman allegedly committed in the company of another woman, but the act was filmed by surveillance cameras.
She is also suspected of stabbing her roommate on February 26. In his report to the police, the roommate said he was injured after the woman’s assault and fled the house. The man was covered in blood and his clothes were riddled with holes, like from a knife, when the officers encountered him.
Additionally, the woman is suspected of physical assault on December 22, which was witnessed, but another woman says she knocked her down and kicked her in the chest, in the back of head and stepped on his head. The woman had visible injuries after the attack.
Two other incidents of violence are described verbatim as follows in the text of the decision (the woman is marked X in the text):
“(…)- Assault, burglary and robbery On December 15, 2022, an assault was reported to (…) in Akureyri. In the victim impact statement at the scene, it was stated that he s woke up with a loud noise and came out of his apartment to see that X, his roommate and two others were downstairs in front of the laundry room. X’s roommate hit him all over the body with a truncheon, and X and another woman then took bags belonging to the victim and carried them away. The victim had visible injuries to his face, both hands, chest and shoulder. There were signs that a The laundry room window had been broken in. The four suspects in the case were arrested at X’s home shortly thereafter.
(…)- Physical assault On April 17, 2022, police assistance was requested for (…) in Akureyri, screaming and crying were reported. X’s roommate said she bit him on the hand and you could see a bite mark on his arm. Then he said X went into the bedroom and picked up a pair of scissors with which she started stabbing herself in the calf. When police arrived on the scene, X’s leg was bleeding profusely and she initially said her housemate caused the injury, but later recanted and said she caused the injury herself. Case under investigation.
(…)– Physical attack On March 24, 2022, police assistance was requested after a man tried to enter (…) Akureyri. When the police arrived there was a man there (other than the informant) who said a man was being held in the basement of the building and being tortured. The victim, who was covered in blood on her face and hair, said she was forcibly restrained in the house and something was wrong with her. The owners, X and his roommate, said the victim came to the house with another man and knocked on the door, but it did not open. When X went down to the laundromat, the victim was there and knew her. She shouted to warn her roommate who came to attack the victim and managed to control her. Case under investigation.”
The decision also mentions numerous incidents related to the theft of which the woman is suspected.
