Donnie Yen could be fired as Oscars host for political opinions

The petition, which surfaced online, calls for Yen to be removed from the event due to “Chinese government support”. The author of the petition is Hong Kong activist Tong Wai Hung. He believes that the presence of an actor at the ceremony “would harm the image and reputation of the film industry”. Yen spoke out against the 2019 protests in Hong Kong last month, NME reports.

Earlier it became known that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the second time in a row was denied a speech at the Oscars. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, asked to award the politician “for playing the main role in an American horror series”, writes TR .
