Musk resolved to construct a “paradisiacal metropolis” in Texas for his personnel

Billionaire Elon Musk plans to build a “utopian city” in Texas for employees of his companies Tesla, SpaceX and The Boring Company. On this subject writing The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing relevant documents, correspondence with district officials and interlocutors familiar with the businessman’s plans.

Over the past three years, organizations associated with Musk have purchased at least 3,500 acres of land near Austin, the Texas state capital. There are plans to build a separate town on part of this land.

“In meetings with landowners and real estate agents, Musk and employees of his companies described their vision (of the city’s future) as a kind of Texas utopia along the Colorado River, where his employees could live and work,” writes the WSJ. .

It is assumed that employees of Musk’s companies will pay rent for housing below market. A set of modular houses, a swimming pool, an outdoor sports ground and a sports hall have already been built on the site of the future city. The colony will be located near the objects of The Boring Company and SpaceX, which are currently under construction.

By Texas law, a minimum of 201 people must live in the city. The future colony could be attached to the county of Bastrop. The town should be called Snailbrook, according to the publication’s material.

In 2020, Musk announced a move from California to Texas. Later, he also moved Tesla’s headquarters from state to state. The billionaire has repeatedly criticized Californian legislation for its harsh rules, particularly in terms of taxation. As the WSJ notes, Texas has less stringent environmental and labor laws, and it also lacks some of the taxes California has.
