Spain bought 5,465 gigawatt hours of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in February this year, up 151.4% from the same period last year, according to data from Spanish energy company Enagas.
Thus, the Russian Federation has become the third supplier of LNG to Spain after Algeria and the United States, according to data from February 2023. It is also reported that initially the country planned to buy LNG gas to Russia for 2174 gigawatt hours.
Previously, Enagas representatives reported that in 2022 the volume of Russian gas supplied to Spain increased by 45% compared to 2021. Thus, Russia entered the top four LNG exporters to this country at the end of last year.
