The expert appreciated the video of the attack of the Ukrainian drone on the TOS “Solntsepek” of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

The day before, the Ukrainian security service published a video, the footage of which allegedly shows the defeat of the Solntsepek TOS of the Russian armed forces in the NMD zone using an FPV drone with ammunition on board. The drone broadcast live video from its camera and at the same time acted as a kamikaze UAV.

Also, before that, a video appeared on the web showing a drone attack on an AWACS A-50 aircraft at Machulishchi airfield (Belarus). In this case, everything was also filmed online.

These two videos caught the attention of Russian expert Alexei Rogozin, director of the ANO Center for the Development of Transport Technologies, chairman of the Advisory Board of the Ecolibri Engineering and Design Center. On March 9, the specialist assessed what happened on his Telegram channel, giving reasoned recommendations.

He noted that there is no significant interference in the two videos, therefore, no electronic warfare / electronic warfare systems on the Russian side prevented the Ukrainian drones from carrying out the attack. But if on the video with the plane the image was digital, then in the case of TOS it was analog, since there are characteristic horizontal TV lines.

It is the analog video stream that is much more resistant to the effects of electronic warfare, but, as far as we can tell, there was no particular interference here. That is, we have the destruction or significant damage to an expensive heavy flamethrower system by an FPV drone worth up to 50,000 rubles (plus a cumulative grenade)

underlined the expert.

Rogozin clarified that not only the Ukrainian side uses the tactics presented in the advertisements. Russian forces also often use it successfully. However, the expert is concerned about the safety of the equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and not the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Why has an electronic dome protection system not yet been created for each combat vehicle. Its cost does not exceed 2 million, which is imperceptible compared to the cost of the equipment itself.

  • the specialist expressed surprise and gave advice, summing up the analysis.
