Amidst a very refreshing atmosphere, the competitions of the third edition of the Qatar Olympic Committee Beach Games 2023 tournament kicked off yesterday, which will be held on the beach courts at the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, from 10 to 17 March, with the participation of more than 800 male and female players competing in seven beach sports. These are: beach soccer, beach volleyball, basketball (3×3), boxing, karate, swimming and aquathlon, within the framework of the Qatar Olympic Committee’s keenness to spread the culture of beach games in Qatari society and encourage community members to preserve the environment.".
The opening ceremony of the third edition of the Olympic Beach Games Championship was attended by HE Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, HE Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Director General of the Katara Cultural Village Foundation, HE Mr. Radwan Hassan, Ambassador of the State of Indonesia to Qatar, in addition to a number of sports personalities. Heads of sports federations and directors of a number of departments of the Qatar Olympic Committee. Through its organization, the Qatar Olympic Committee seeks to spread the culture of beach games in Qatari society and expand the area of its practitioners, especially after the exceptional organization of the World Beach Games of the Association of Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Doha in 2019, which met with unparalleled successes and received great international acclaim.
On the other hand, the organization of these games is accompanied by the establishment of educational and awareness programs and paragraphs that highlight the importance of continuing the sustainability campaign and the role of every resident and citizen in preserving the environment and tourist beaches in the State of Qatar, in addition to many recreational activities for families and children.
The first day witnessed the establishment of beach soccer and beach volleyball competitions, in addition to aquathlon and boxing. The current edition of the championship is held within the framework of cooperation between the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Indonesian Olympic Committee in order to transfer the experiences of organizing the first edition of the ANOC 2019 Beach Games, which was held in Doha, to its Indonesian counterpart, which will host the next edition from 5 to 12 August 2023. The Qatar Olympic Committee for Beach Games 2023 is in its third edition with the support of private and public institutions that spare no effort to be part of the sporting and community events that the Olympic Committee organizes annually, led by the Katara Cultural Village Management (official partner), Attraction (official sponsor), Vodafone Qatar (Official Sponsor) Ad Company (official supplier) and LuLu Hypermarket (official supplier).
