In the upcoming fall elections, a candidate from the older age group with conservative views will be sought. It is possible that the appointment of participants in a special military operation or those involved in it will also become a political trend, writes Kommersant.

The Expert Institute for Social Research (EISI) organized a round table to discuss the image of a wanted candidate in the upcoming elections in the Russian Federation. According to experts, youth and brightness, which were relevant before the coronavirus pandemic, are no longer in fashion. Now, for voters from different countries, including Russians, the best candidate is considered an elderly man with conservative views.

According to Gleb Kuznetsov, head of the EISI expert council, Turkey’s united opposition presidential candidate is 84, the new Austrian leader is over 80.

Another trend is the abandonment of economic issues. Talk of growing prosperity will be forgotten, and voters will be more affected by promises to keep the good that is already in their lives.

Aleksey Martynov, director of the Institute of Recent States, noted that competence is always expected of a candidate, but otherwise his portrait cuts across the current agenda. Thus, during the pandemic, doctors and volunteers were among the main nominees. It is possible that next fall the political bias will be on those involved in the SVO.

Political consultant Yevgeny Minchenko, who did not participate in the roundtable, believes that the candidate sought is the one who correctly plays on the basic emotions of the voter. Today is fear. But the demand for the heroes of the special operation in the future election campaign is more likely to be present with the authorities than with ordinary mortals.

“Obviously there is a directive from the authorities that these people should be encouraged, should be given a higher status, should be integrated into society so as not to repeat the mistakes made with the veterans of Afghanistan and Chechnya” , explained the expert.

Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that the Kremlin discussed a landmark for the 2024 presidential election.
