Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Hamad Medical Corporation launches a campaign to educate diabetics about safe fasting during Ramadan

The National Diabetes Center at Hamad Medical Corporation is launching a national campaign under the slogan: "Ramadan and diabetes… Fasting is safe to maintain health". This campaign aims to provide health education to individuals with diabetes and the population in the State of Qatar, raise awareness about this disease, and help diabetics maintain their health during the holy month of Ramadan and beyond. The campaign will highlight strategies for preventing and treating diabetes related to lifestyle, including monitoring blood glucose levels, physical activity rate, healthy nutrition, and adjusting medication doses and timing during Ramadan. Dr. Manal Muslim Othman, Director of Health Education at Hamad Medical Corporation, said: Making the decision to fast throughout the holy month of Ramadan involves several potential difficulties, as many people with diabetes suffer from other diabetes-related complications, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and vision problems. Therefore, health care experts advise diabetics to exercise regularly, and to consult their doctors and health care providers before fasting, and they must obtain detailed treatment recommendations, modifications to their diet, and a medical evaluation of their health condition. The campaign is scheduled to be launched on social media a week before the start of the holy month of Ramadan, as the campaign will continue throughout the holy month to interact with the public by sharing information about diabetes, Ramadan and supporting people with diabetes.
