In a speech delivered during the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Bahrain, His Excellency said that the Qatari people are homogeneous, united by one religion, language, culture and history, and people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds with nationalities of more than 80 countries live in Qatar, and a culture of tolerance and acceptance prevails among them. the other.
He touched on the efforts of the State of Qatar to combat violence, promote the language of dialogue, spread the values of tolerance and respect, and achieve peaceful coexistence between individuals and societies, noting that Qatar has launched many initiatives that support dialogue between different cultures and civilizations.
The Speaker of the Shura Council added, in his speech before the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held under the slogan "Peaceful coexistence and inclusive societies for all… Fighting intolerance",: " Based on this pioneering role of the government and people of the State of Qatar, the Shura Council, on behalf of the Arab Parliamentary Group, submitted a request to include the issue of criminalizing defamation of religions as an emergency item on your agenda under the title "Criminalizing contempt for religions and violating places of worship and sanctities, spreading hatred among peoples and calling for promoting the values of coexistence, tolerance and international peace and security".
His Excellency also stressed the role that parliamentarians play as representatives of peoples, and the great responsibility they bear in addressing the causes and motives of intolerance, combating hate speech, and promoting the values of tolerance, integration and peaceful coexistence, by adopting the enactment of legislation that enhances and maintains the cohesion of the social fabric, and criminalizes everything that It would stir up tribal, sectarian and religious strife. He called on them and the geopolitical groups in the Inter-Parliamentary Union to adopt legislation that achieves this, by calling for the enactment of international legislation criminalizing contempt of religions and infringement of religious places and sanctities, by supporting the emergency clause.
His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council started his speech by saying God Almighty in His Holy Book "O people, indeed We created you from male and female and made you into nations and tribes so that you may know one another."Reminding everyone of the sublime meanings of this noble verse, which affirms the unity of humanity, which God created from two sexes, male and female, who are the basis of life, and acquaintance and coexistence prevail between them, and they meet in a renewed meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
He expressed his regret over the instability the world is witnessing today, and the large parts of it suffering from disputes and conflicts, in addition to the increase in border tensions and clashes, and the outbreak of wars between a number of countries, criticizing the inability of the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to establish a system that achieves security and stability, and the administration of justice. and the protection of human rights, which was reflected in the difficulty of achieving peaceful coexistence, reducing violence in various societies, and the spread of hate speech.
His Excellency pointed out that the Arab region is witnessing hotbeds of tensions, instability and lack of security, stressing that "At the forefront of the causes of instability and the continuation of violence is what the occupying entity has been practicing in dear Palestine for more than seven decades, as this entity has remained a major cause of regional wars, daily brutal violence and the spread of terrorism, in light of the international community’s inability to deter or criminalize it."Noting that a minister in the Israeli occupation government recently dared to demand, in an official statement, the erasure of a village "Hawara" Palestinians in full, inciting violence in front of the whole world.
He called on the assembled and parliamentary organizations to work to stop the blatant attacks on the Palestinian people, and to call for reform of the concerned specialized agencies and agencies of the United Nations.
