The opening speech will be delivered by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The future of Afghanistan is also among the priorities of the forum’s agenda, with a dialogue session devoted to dealing with the future prospects of the country, especially with regard to aspects of security, governance and human rights. The agenda also includes a special dialogue session that discusses hostage-taking practices by governmental and non-governmental agencies, with the participation of His Excellency Ambassador Roger Carsten, the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs in the United States, who is expected to present preliminary ideas in this regard and to be joined by a number of prominent speakers. The Forum does not overlook the importance of the emerging effects of technology, as it holds a special session with the participation of Ms. Dina Hussein, Global Head of Policy Development and Expert Partnerships at Meta (Facebook); and Ms. Amy Larsen, Director of Strategy and Business Management, Microsoft. This is in addition to a special symposium held in cooperation with the Executive Directorate of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the UN Security Council, with the participation of a number of international experts who shed light on terrorism issues and advanced technologies in -COVID-19 crisis world, in addition to the potential repercussions of the adoption and misuse of emerging technology and its impact. With regard to human rights and the dissemination of false information, disinformation and conspiracy theories; Internet misuse and its relationship to issues of social diversity; and future challenges facing policy makers, experts and different societies. The forum’s agenda also includes a series of discussion sessions devoted to discussing issues of combating extremism, hate and media disinformation via the Internet, in addition to violent extremist right-wing movements and measures taken by countries and global institutions.
