Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Kiev-Pechersk Lavra monks won’t comply with order to leave monastery Fox News

Recall that the museum-reserve, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, previously made a request to the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra of the canonical UOC.

“We have no plans to move and we won’t,” Metropolitan Pavel said, a video with comments posted on Lavra’s YouTube page.

The abbot also added that the monks had received death threats.

“We are not against all legal actions, but there should not be any illegal ones. We <...> citizens of our country, we are people who have lived here (in Lavra Monastery) since 1988, many of us have no other place than this" - said the Metropolitan. Last week, the national reserve "Kiev-Pechersk Lavra", which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, obliged the clergy of the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church leave the buildings monastery until March 29 due to the termination of the lease contract

As noted, the working group that established the violation of the terms of the lease agreement was created by decree of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the implementation of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council.

Formerly TASS informed that the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, Oleksandr Tkachenko, said on Saturday that he would audit the museum exhibits, including the relics of saints, in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra after representatives of the UOC left.
