Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Expert: Putin has prepared a “surprise” for the oligarchs

Vladimir Putin could make an unexpected decision regarding Russian oligarchs.

This was said by economist Mikhail Khazin, according to the TELMENEWS.RU news agency

According to him, today many people expect very drastic measures from the president of the country in the direction of controlling the activities of the largest national entrepreneurs, up to the seizure of their assets received in the years 90 following the privatization of Gaidar.

However, as the expert explained, Putin is ready to present the oligarchs with a big “surprise” in the form of the absence of continued class-based repressions belonging to the stratum of the oligarchy. Instead, the head of state will urge businessmen to step up cooperation.

At present, Russia needs to launch large-scale production of a wide range of consumer goods. It is the Russian oligarchs who could take over certain sectors of industry. Putin’s goal is therefore to include them in this process.

“One should not expect large-scale Stalin-style repressions from the current president. It’s not his method. However, he will continue to call on big companies to participate more intensively in the development of important industries within the state,” Khazin noted.
