Minister of Labor: 6 effective initiatives to localize jobs in the private sector

The Shura Council discussed in its weekly session today, Monday, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, Minister of Labor, the Ministry’s efforts to localize jobs in the private sector, qualify and train the national workforce, organize manpower recruitment offices, and the progress made in developing the electronic services of the Ministry through Digital transformation with the aim of simplifying and facilitating procedures for citizens and companies.

His Excellency the Minister of Labor stated that the Ministry of Labor is currently implementing 6 effective initiatives within the nationalization program in the private sector, indicating that these initiatives took into account various aspects of creating jobs and training programs for citizens, and increasing communication with private sector establishments, in order to achieve the desired goals.

In his presentation to the members of the Shura Council, HE Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, Minister of Labor, confirmed that the appointments of Qataris in the private sector during the past year increased by about five times, to reach 1,850 employees, while the number of establishments that cooperated with the Emiratisation program reached 331. in various sectors.

He drew attention, according to the Qatar News Agency "Qena"He pointed out that the draft law for the localization of jobs in the private sector, which was approved by the honorable Council of Ministers "as a principle" Last February, he addressed many of the challenges facing the Ministry of Labor in increasing the rates of hiring Qataris in the sector.

He explained that the draft law gives the Ministry of Labor more flexibility in the field of attracting and motivating Qataris, and appointing them in the private sector, and also created legal frameworks to encourage agencies to hire citizens.

And he indicated that the draft law granted the Minister of Labor regulatory powers to implement the law by setting conditions, incentives, facilities and privileges, setting conditions and controls for training Qatari students, and approving scholarship policies in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

His Excellency stressed that under the new draft law, a set of penalties will be taken for violating establishments, as the Ministry of Labor has the right to issue warnings, stop the transactions of the violating parties and financial fines, adding that the work environment requires the existence of some incentives, facilities and privileges to increase the attraction of Qataris in the private sector.
