In the midst of the tragedy caused by the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, leaving behind more than 51,000 victims, 3 Turkish athletes escaped death and decided to represent their country in the World Shooting Championships that Qatar is currently hosting.
The three players participated with the Turkish team in a tournament "Shooting World Cup 2023" Which started on March 12 and ends on March 16, after two of them got out from under the rubble, while the third was in the earthquake-hit area in Kahramanmaraş, southern Turkey.
For his part, Omar Seifi Aktulun, Vice President of the Turkish Shooting and Hunting Federation, said, according to Anadolu Agency: "We came to Qatar with 8 athletes, three of them came from Kahramanmaraş, and two were under the wreckage of the earthquake.".
According to local Turkish media, the Turkish team of the Shooting and Hunting Federation, which includes 8 players, achieved success in a number of qualifiers in the tournament, which included 465 male and female shooters, who represented 63 countries.
Turkish shooters also presented their achievements in the Shooting World Cup, which was held in Qatar, as a gift to the Turkish people, in light of the tragedy that befell their country.
