Mikhail Klimentiev / Kremlin PoolRussian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov had telephone conversations with Mark Milley, chairman of the US Armed Forces Chiefs of Staff Committee. This was reported to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The military department noted that the conversation between the chiefs of the General Staff took place during the development of telephone conversations between the ministers of defense of the Russian Federation and the United States, Sergei Shoigu and Lloyd Austin. Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the dialogue between Shoigu and Austin took place at the initiative of Washington.

The main topic of negotiations between the head of the Pentagon and the Russian Defense Minister was the incident of the fall of an American drone over the waters of the Black Sea. Shoigu informed his American colleague that Moscow was not interested in escalating the situation on the Black Sea coast. The Russian minister also stressed that the country would respond appropriately to provocations.
