The Lithuanian Armed Forces Command released information that the US Navy guided missile destroyer USS Porter (“Porter”) entered the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.

“The Porter destroyer, which entered Klaipeda, is carrying out tasks in the Baltic Sea assigned to it by the US Navy command,” the message quoted by TASS reads.

He was accompanied by guards armed with Lithuanian sailors and from the port and coast guard. This ship in the water area will be guarded by high-speed boats. There are about 300 servicemen on the destroyer itself. The ship’s armament consists of torpedoes, artillery and machine gun systems and various missiles. In addition, MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopters are stationed there.

Earlier, it was learned that the US State Department said that the Russian side is still bound by the provisions of START and that the suspension of its participation in the treaty is legally untenable.
