Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he would only agree to impose sanctions against Russia if the situation was desperate.
He said the country has been under heavy pressure for more than a year and is not introducing these restrictions. Vučić said he didn’t know how long Belgrade would be able to sustain this European pressure.
“I know best when we are in dire straits and when we need to change policy. I don’t swear, but my words mean more than the oaths of many. When we change the policy, I will contact you personally,” Vučić explained.
Thus, the Serbian leader reacted to Economy Minister Rada Basta, who called for sanctions against Russia because of the “too high price” of Belgrade’s friendship with Moscow. After that, he was criticized by leading Serbian politicians.
Earlier it became known that Putin had a phone conversation with Aliyev, the Kremlin reported. They discussed measures to ensure security in the South Caucasus in accordance with agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
