Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin told how funerals for fallen soldiers in Ukraine are organized. He explained why in some cities of Russia there are mass cemeteries for military personnel of a private company.
- When a Wagner PMC fighter dies, he is buried strictly in accordance with the place he indicated in his will. Those who have not expressed a specific desire for the place of their burial, we bury them in the cemetery of Goryachiy Klyuch,” Prigogine said.
Moreover, there is another place in Russia where dead “musicians” are often buried. This is a cemetery in Berezovsky, located on the outskirts of Yekaterinburg. According to Prigozhin, fighters who lived in the city or its surroundings and wanted to be buried there are buried there.
Also, the bodies of those whose relatives cannot be transferred to the remains for objective reasons are buried here. These fighters wanted their bodies to be handed over to one of the family members, such as a mother or a sister, so that they could organize the burial.
When the bodies are brought to Yekaterinburg, a PMC employee contacts relatives. If there is no information, then in this case Wagner negotiates with the administration of one of the local cemeteries where the fighters are buried.
“They will not be buried with their loved ones, but with their comrades. Whoever does not like this, go down to the grave, lie down next to him, hold his hand and thank him. What’s wrong with that? What should be done, – said the founder of the PMC.
Information about the lack of transfer of military awards from the dead fighters of the PMC Wagner is not true, Prigozhin stressed. He said that each of the deceased “musicians” received at least two posthumous awards – for death and for participation in the SVO in Ukraine. However, relatives do not receive awards upon death, but after burial, which may occur days or even months after a serviceman’s death.
