As the head of the International Affairs Committee of the Lower House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, he takes part in the three-day parliamentary conference “Russia – Africa”, which takes place in the Russian capital, informs BELTA .
Belarus, the politician said, is present at the international forum as a full participant, presenting “its position on the processes taking place in the world, especially since Africa today is becoming a region that attracts the attention of almost the whole world.”
The representatives of more than forty African States, present at the meeting, he said, are unanimous on the fact that on the continent “we must finally put an end to the practice of neo-colonialism”. Unfortunately, the speakers assert that the collapse of the colonial system did not take place, since the States were enslaved by the economic, financial and commercial mechanisms.
Therefore, noted the Belarusian politician, they are looking for new partnerships, new opportunities in order to ensure their socio-economic development. And in many ways, he added, they see the Union State as a model of successful development, “when sovereign countries build a harmonious and equitable politics, supporting each other, stimulating social growth and economic”.
In addition, he said, Belarusians use this conference to conduct bilateral contacts. Meetings have already taken place with the delegations of Angola and Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea and Kenya. “The bilateral agenda and topical issues of interaction were discussed, which gives impetus to expanding cooperation with continental states,” Savinykh is convinced.
Speaking about the increased interest of the dialogue participants in the development experience of Belarus, he explained that African countries need the latest technologies, cooperation in the field of education and science is in demand. “And in all these areas, Minsk can offer a very active agenda,” summed up the parliamentarian.
The Russia-Africa international parliamentary conference, specifies the agency, has the character of a sort of preparatory stage on the eve of the second Russia-Africa summit, which will be held on July 27 and 28 in Saint Petersburg.
