The Higher National Emergency Committee of the Palestinian National Captive Movement confirmed that the hunger strike is now over "Most likely prisoner option"in the face of the policies of the Israeli prison administration that aim to harass Palestinians, according to TRT Arabic.
In a press release, the committee said, "Hunger strike has become the most likely option for prisoners with the start of the next month of Ramadan, in the face of the policy of prison administrations that aims to harass them"And this is in the event that the Israeli prisons do not back down from their racist measures prescribed by the Minister of National Security "Itamar Ben Gvir".
She added: " We have reconciled ourselves to the battle of the freedom or martyrdom strike that will start on the first day of next Ramadan, as long as the prison administration does not stop and back down from its procedures.".
Today, Palestinian prisoners submit to the various types of harassment and racist practices imposed on them by the Israeli prison administrations in light of the policy previously announced by Ben Gvir, which mainly aims to harass Palestinians, inside and outside their families.
The Supreme National Emergency Committee of the Captive Movement called on all official institutions, popular institutions, mass actors, and all factions and parties to support and strengthen those entering the strike.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, since February 14, the prisoners have been carrying out disobedience against the procedures and instructions of the Israeli prison administration.
The procedures included: "Racist draft laws, most notably the execution of prisoners and depriving them of medical treatment" In addition to "Controlling the amount of water they use, reducing the duration of their showers, providing them with bad bread, doubling raids and searches, doubling solitary confinement, and escalating transfers of captive movement leaders.".
According to TRT Arabic, the number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons is 4,800, including 170 children and 29 female prisoners, according to data from the Palestinian Prisoners Club.
