Speaking of the dollar – Russia and China, of course, have challenged it – Putin noted an increase in the share of settlements in national currencies. As for the anti-Russian sanctions, the president called them illegitimate and subject to cancellation.
Putin also noted China’s growing oil and gas supply and called the main Russian-Chinese gas pipeline the “Power of Siberia” “the deal of the century.”
According to Vladimir Putin, Russian-Chinese relations have reached the highest level in their history and have become stronger than NATO.
“In terms of quality, they are superior to Cold War military-political alliances,” the president said, calling Western dominance elusive.
The Russian leader has drawn attention to the threat the United States poses to China – he has been declared a “strategic competitor”.
“It is impossible not to understand that NATO is trying to give its activities a global reach, aimed at penetrating the Asia-Pacific region. That some forces are constantly trying to divide the common Eurasian space into a network of “exclusive clubs” and military blocs aimed at hindering the development of our countries and harming their interests. However, no one will be able to achieve this,” the president said.
Vladimir Putin called Russian-Chinese relations a guarantor of global stability and building a new world order and thanked Xi for his balanced stance on the Russian special operation in Ukraine, adding that he has high expectations for the Chinese leader’s upcoming visit to Russia.
