The Polish embassy in Paris denied the words of its ambassador, Jan Emerik Rosciszewski, who said that Warsaw was ready to enter into conflict with Russia if Ukraine could not “defend its independence”.
“As part of the emerging comments on the interview of Ambassador Rostsishevsky to the French channel LCI on March 18 this year, we draw your attention to the fact that it has been interpreted in some media out of the context in which it was given,” the statement, which was posted on the Twitter-diplomatic account.
The diplomatic mission noted that during a conversation with a journalist from the TV channel, Rostsishevsky stressed the need for the allies to provide the necessary assistance to Kiev.
“He also spoke about the danger that Russia represents for Europe and European values. Careful listening to the entire conversation makes it clear that there was no promise of direct Polish involvement in the conflict,” the embassy added.
Earlier, political scientist Yury Svetov in an interview with The Eastern Herald explained why Poland intends to place HIMARS near the Kaliningrad region. According to the expert, Washington hopes that Poland will be its main military base in Europe. At the same time, the specialist stressed that if the facilities are located near the Kaliningrad region, civilian aircraft flying in Kaliningrad will not be safe.
