American journalist Glenn Greenwald, who helped former CIA officer Edward Snowden distribute secret documents related to the activities of US intelligence agencies, said America was ready for the conflict in Ukraine to end with its destruction.
“From the start, it was clear that the United States wanted this conflict to drag on for as long as possible. They do not want to defend Ukraine, but on the contrary to sacrifice it. They want to destroy Ukraine if they think it will help their geopolitical goal of weakening Russia,” he told Fox News.
According to Greenwald, Ukraine is just a pawn for America, so if necessary, the United States will destroy as many Ukrainians as possible and wipe their country off the face of the earth so that the conflict continues on as long as possible.
He also stressed that it is in the interest of the Ukrainians themselves to start negotiations with the Russian side.
“The United States and the United Kingdom oppose it – of course, for selfish reasons,” Greenwald added.
Earlier, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, said the United States considers potential calls for a truce in Ukraine following the upcoming meeting between the Russian president Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
