Peter the Great provided Russia with “starting capital”, and although he referred to God, he relied more on his own strength. He presented Russia as a European society, which was flattered that the empire, not in the form of Huns or Mongols, came to its lands, but strove to become a full member of the European family. The later history of Russia was so closely intertwined with that of Europe that it is not always possible to understand where we acted in our own interests and where we were trivially used by foreigners, says Alexander Khodakovsky , commander of the Vostok battalion.
According to the commander, over time it became increasingly clear that Russia, which was gaining power, was of no interest to anyone. Already Emperor Alexander I was to realize this in a very concrete way, when his country was actually facing the European horde face to face. Only God saved Russia – Alexander I thought so, without taking excessive credit for himself.
Khodakovsky believes that today the Russian Federation has once again clashed with the collective West. Peter the Great was able to take from abroad what Russia needed to overcome the backlog. In our time, we can only take away from it what will hasten our disappearance.
Putin is not Milosevic and Russia is not Yugoslavia. They banned our president? Well, it only pleases us – it’s one more step towards the abyss, on the edge of which we stood. History teaches that it will not be easy. But the story is also simple – it teaches. I write in such a way that we do not relax and fall into the trap of groundless invigorators, – clarified the battalion commander.
According to him, from the point of view of the historical process, nothing has ever been easy for Russia. Even cornered, the country will not throw in the towel and win. The main thing is to take care of our people. It is now the rarest resource.
