The General Traffic Department announced an integrated traffic plan to control traffic during the holy month of Ramadan, which includes several awareness programs to enhance road safety.
Brigadier General Dr. Muhammad Radi Al-Hajri, Director of the Traffic Awareness Department, said in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that "The General Traffic Department has been developing a comprehensive traffic plan for the holy month of Ramadan that responds to the nature of movement in this month"adding "Through this plan, we aim to protect all road users, and ensure the flow of vehicle movement through the spread of traffic patrols in all regions of the country throughout the day, with a focus on peak times.".
He explained that traffic patrols will work during the holy month to secure traffic and ensure that there are no traffic jams, especially in commercial streets and areas surrounding complexes, public places, and mosques, in addition to covering Ramadan events, including " Garangao celebration"And the reception of the holiday.
Brigadier General Al-Hajri noted that the holy month of Ramadan is an occasion to promote correct traffic behavior among all segments of society, and to enhance community awareness of traffic rules in order to preserve property and lives, indicating that the administration has prepared an awareness program under the slogan " Ramadan and drive safely". He also mentioned that the program is directed to all road users including vehicle drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, and includes lectures and workshops in addition to field awareness and the distribution of free breakfast meals throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Regarding the administration’s efforts to control the movement of motorcycles for delivery of orders, the Director of the Traffic Awareness Department highlighted that the traffic plans include all road users, and are not related to a specific group, calling on everyone to adhere to traffic rules and controls in order to preserve lives and property.
Brigadier General Dr. Muhammad Radhi Al-Hajri drew attention to the regulations and conditions for motorcycles for delivery of orders announced by the administration during the past year, stressing that the percentage of companies’ commitment to these controls and conditions reached more than 90 percent, which enhances road safety.
