The Qatar Foundation for Social Work, in cooperation with the United Nations Center for Training and Documentation, organized a training workshop on "Preparing and writing reports in the field of women’s rights", on March 19 and 20, with the aim of raising the level of awareness of the Foundation’s employees and its affiliated centers in international charters and agreements, human rights concepts, and the preparation of international reports. The training workshop focused on the role of civil society in interacting with the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the importance of using human rights indicators in preparing and writing reports, with a focus on indicators related to women’s rights. Mr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Kuwari, CEO of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, valued the cooperation between the Foundation and the United Nations Center for Training and Documentation, through presenting this workshop, pointing to the Foundation’s keenness to strengthen partnerships to benefit from international best practices, and to see the latest developments in issues pertaining to groups targeted. He stressed the keenness of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work to develop and excel in providing the best services to its employees with the aim of empowering and integrating them into society, and activating meaningful partnerships, in a way that contributes to creating a new institutional culture capable of facing crises and managing them efficiently and effectively, indicating that continuous development and the acquisition of skills and their application in the field of work is One of the most important criteria for achieving goals. For her part, Mrs. Ghada Al-Subaie, Director of the Advocacy and International Relations Department at the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, indicated that the Foundation seeks to develop staff working in the field of preparing and writing reports for the United Nations, indicating that the training workshop provided an opportunity for interaction between the employees of the Foundation and its affiliated centers, through Familiarize yourself with the international charters, conventions and approved concepts, and review the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. She stressed that the Qatar Foundation for Social Work is working to achieve the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, in addition to working to activate the provisions of all international conventions and covenants related to the field of women’s rights, which the State of Qatar has ratified, in addition to spreading awareness and education on enhancing the protection and rehabilitation of women. , Rehabilitation of victims of violence and family disintegration, reintegration into society, provision of contact numbers to facilitate their access to the relevant centers, and provision of support to them in various fields, as well as support and advice to women in the field of marital and family life, and ensuring their social protection. In the same context, the participants in the training workshop worked within the framework of working groups, where they began to prepare the draft of the required report and agree on future steps, while the United Nations Training Center provided international standards, information and guidance for writing and preparing reports. It is noteworthy that the two-day training workshop aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the international normative framework related to human rights, and to enable the participants, after the workshop, to apply the principles of preparing and writing essays.
