An event for the Japanese Club at Qatar University

The Japanese Student Club at the Student Activities Department at Qatar University organized a “Hanami Day” event in its seventh edition. This event, which was organized over three days, aims to introduce the university’s members to Japanese culture and the customs and traditions of the Japanese people. This was in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Satoshi Maeda, the Ambassador of Japan to the country with a delegation from the Japanese embassy, ​​and a number of officials from the Student Activities Department at Qatar University, and the presence of cultural bodies in the country such as the Doha Film Institute “Jedcom”, and the participation of 20 artists from students and graduates of Qatar University and artists interested in cultural arts Japanese in the country, and the event witnessed a great turnout from students affiliated with Qatar University. The event included many activities to introduce visitors to Japanese culture, including: training in flower arranging, preparing paper shapes, competitions for students that included questions about Japan, and traditional Japanese costumes were displayed. In addition, visitors were introduced to Japanese animation and Japanese electronic games. In addition to the participation of many restaurants for Japanese foods and drinks, including Japanese tea and kimono. It is worth noting that Hanami: means spring, the season of falling leaves of the cherry tree (sakura). This is the pattern for this year’s event.
