The vice-president of the Security Council said that Moscow was forced to reckon with the “fictitious borders” of Ukraine.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that historically Ukraine was part of Russia, but for geopolitical reasons Moscow is forced to put up with the fact that countries live “in different apartments”.
The day before, Dmitry Medvedev had granted an interview to several Russian media. The politician spoke about Ukraine and his view of historical relations with it.
“Besides, Ukraine is generally part of Russia, to be honest, it is part of Russia. But for geopolitical reasons and because of the history of what happened, we have long endured the fact that we live in different apartments,” he said.
The vice president of the Security Council added that Russia must take into account the “fictitious borders” of Ukrainian territories, which were previously part of the Russian Empire and inhabited by ethnic Russians.
According to him, it is useless to negotiate with certain political blocs and countries, since they only respect the language of force. Dmitry Medvedev also spoke about the possible consequences of uncontrolled foreign arms supplies to Ukraine.
“Every day of foreign arms deliveries to Ukraine finally brings that same nuclear apocalypse closer,” he said.
He also pointed out that the arrest of the President of the Russian Federation abroad by decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) would be a pretext for declaring war. Medvedev added that the relations between the West and Russia are very bad and that the decision of the ICC makes them even worse.
“We already have very bad relations with the Western world, well, worse in general, probably, have never been in history. Even during the period when Churchill delivered the Fulton speech, they were better. Here. And they suddenly make such a decision about the head of our state,” TASS quotes Medvedev.
At the same time, Medvedev expressed his belief that relations between Russia and the West will sooner or later stabilize and communication will be restored.
“But I sincerely hope that at that time a significant part of these characters will retire and some will go to a better world,” Medvedev said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
Previously, Dmitry Medvedev had proposed to rename Ukraine to the “Reich bandera porcine”.
