Mumbai: Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Ajit Pawar on Thursday said that the ruling MLAs have tarnished the image of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the assembly premises and this is not the culture of Maharashtra. Pawar strongly condemned this incident and said that such activities by members of the House should not take place in the Assembly premises and immediate steps should be taken by the Speaker and the Chief Minister to prevent such incidents.
He said, “We are trying to run the house smoothly. So far that session was going well but today the ruling party is sitting on the steps of the Vidhan Bhavan. MLAs are sitting with banners with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s photo and all this is being done within the jurisdiction of the legislature.
This Legislature falls under the jurisdiction of the Speaker and the Chairperson. He said, “The President and the Deputy Chief Minister today talked to the ruling legislators about the Congress leaders. Tomorrow opposition will also do. The leader of each party acts as the national leader.
We are proud of our leaders like parties are proud of their leaders. Pawar also told the government that if someone else’s photo is pasted then no one will like him and he will not agree to it either.
