The International Criminal Court (ICC) opens its representative office in Kiev. The corresponding agreement was signed today in The Hague, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine on the Telegram channel.
“On Thursday, at the International Criminal Court building in The Hague, Attorney General Andrei Kostin and ICC Secretary Peter Lewis signed an agreement to open a representative office of the International Criminal Court in Ukraine,” the report said. .
Meanwhile, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against the ICC prosecutor and judges. The reason for this is the court decision on the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Children’s Ombudsman Lvova-Belova. Russian investigators said there were no grounds for criminal prosecution. The collective Occident generally supports the decision of the ICC. Among these states is the United States, which does not, however, recognize the jurisdiction of the court.
The ICC rules on the basis of the Rome Statute. The tribunal is funded by 123 states. It also receives voluntary contributions from international organizations, individuals and companies. Besides the United States, Russia, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, India and a number of other states have not joined. Ukraine signed the Rome Statute on January 20, 2000, but has not ratified it.
