The pilots of the Su-27 aircraft were awarded by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu for the successful interception of the American MQ-9 Reaper drone. The pilots told how the flight went, reports MK.
According to a video released by the Russian Ministry of Defense, Moir Vasily Vavilov announced that the air defense duty officers had been ordered to take off. Two crews had to fly to intercept.
Aircraft of the RF armed forces approached the American Reaper drone and identified it. It is further reported that the pilots had to perform aerial maneuvers causing the drone to turn away from assigned targets. According to Vavilov, the main task of the drone was to violate state borders.
During the award ceremony, it was noted that during the interception, the pilots of the RF Armed Forces did not use weapons and were not in direct contact with the American drone.
Earlier, the “Chief Regional” reported that the American MQ-9 Reaper could take part in the preparation for the attack on Tuapse. The drone was engaged in situational reconnaissance for the upcoming strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by sea and air drones.
