Punishment for Rahul: NCP told BJP, ‘Babbling’ will come under the law sooner or later

MUMBAI: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s two-year sentence in a defamation case by BJP leaders, saying the same rule applies to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders as well. Because the law will be caught late-soon.

A Surat court on Thursday sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to two years in jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case filed against him over his remarks on Modi’s nickname. NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto tweeted, “BJP leaders are saying that Rahul Gandhi should learn a lesson from the Surat Ki Adalat sentence and choose his words properly before speaking.”

He said, “This also applies to BJP’s ‘slanderous leaders’ because our judiciary is supreme and sometimes such leaders will be arrested.” The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Thursday that if Rahul Gandhi abuses people, the law will work. The party also hit back at criticism from the main opposition party over the conviction of a former Congress president in a defamation case and questioned whether the Congress wants “complete freedom” for its leader so that he can give others “Keep abusing. He said that the law in the country is Raj hai and it will remain forever.
