1,500 people have been evacuated in eastern Spain due to a huge fire

A huge fire destroyed more than a thousand hectares in eastern Spain, and led to the evacuation of about 1,500 people, while Spanish firefighting teams are still working to put out the fire after it broke out on Friday.

The fire engulfed the border area between the autonomous regions of Aragon and Valencia.

The Spanish Military Fire and Emergency Services Unit deployed 20 helicopters and firefighting aircraft for the rapid control of the fire.

Although the timing of the fire came early this year, the authorities are likely to break out more fires in the coming days and weeks, especially since Spain is witnessing a strong wave of drought and the amount of rainfall was scarce during the winter.

Last year, Spain experienced the worst forest fires "Earth Observation"Copernicus of the European Union 493 wildfires.
