Mexico has submitted a letter of intent to host the Olympic Games

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard confirmed on Friday that Mexico had submitted its letter of intent to host the games in 2036 or 2040 to International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach.

Ebrard and Maria José Alcala, President of the Mexican Olympic Committee, delivered the said letter to Bach at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne (Switzerland).

The 2028 Olympic Games will be held in Australia, 2036 and 2040 remain free.

Other countries that have expressed interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics include Egypt, England, India, Indonesia and Qatar.
