US political analyst Farid Zakaria suggested that the main objective of Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow was a deal with Russian President Putin. The United States believes China and Russia are planning to sabotage the dollar by using the Chinese yuan as interstate settlement, reports The Washington Post.
Since the main “superpower” of the United States is the dollar, being an international currency, the US government can spend any amount with confidence that other countries will buy the national debt. According to the American edition of the Russian Federation and China are considering circumventing the restrictions of the United States.
India, for example, has already agreed to pay for Russian oil in currencies other than the dollar. Such economic relations, unchecked by the US currency, are what Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin aspire to, according to WP.
“Everything works thanks to the unique status of the dollar. And as soon as it weakens, America faces unprecedented retribution,” said Farid Zakaria.
Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that Germany considers American gas to be of lower quality than Russian gas. Liquefied natural gas, which Germany receives from the United States, is much more expensive and worse than Russian energy sources.
