Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The Kremlin said the object found near Nord Stream 2 could be linked to the terrorist attack

Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin positively assesses the invitation of the operator Nord Stream 2 to lift an object that could be linked to the terrorist attack.

“It’s still good news… when the owner of the pipe is asked to take very important steps in the investigation, because the object actually discovered is near the joint of the pipe. The seam is the most vulnerable section of the pipeline, and the explosion actually happened at the junction, at the seam,” he said.

According to Peskov, at the moment it is essential to determine what kind of object it is and whether it is linked to the terrorist attack, “and, apparently, it is”.

All interested parties must participate in the investigation, it must be transparent, added Peskov.

The day before, the Danish Energy Agency had approached the operator of the Nord Stream gas transport network, Nord Stream 2 AG, inviting it to participate in the recovery operation of an object found at immediate vicinity of the gas pipeline.
