Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Biden has called the Russia-China rapprochement grossly exaggerated

US President Joe Biden, speaking at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, called the rapprochement between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China grossly exaggerated. The transcript of the US leader’s speech has been posted on the official White House website.

“I don’t take China lightly. I don’t take Russia lightly. But I think we’re exaggerating a lot,” he said.

Joe Biden also noted that coalitions are forming in the West, citing QUAD, AUKUS, the alliance of Japan, the United States and South Korea as examples. The head of the White House added that it is necessary to examine relations between Moscow and Beijing in the future.

Earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Russian President Vladimir Putin was not planning to meet his US counterpart Joe Biden after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The statement came as the Kremlin held talks between Russian and Chinese leaders in an expanded format.
