Chinese President Xi Jinping made his first visit to Africa on 25 March 2013. He presented a policy of honesty towards Africa while giving a speech in Tanzania. This pointed the way for the development of China-Africa relations in the new era. In the past ten years, China and African countries have made remarkable achievements in cooperation in various fields. Friendship between the Chinese and African people is on the rise.
Recently, the China Media Group held a program titled Ten Years in Review in several African countries, showcasing China-Africa friendship through newspapers, outdoor big screens and TVs. Tanzania’s popular English newspaper released a special issue on 24 March. A senior African media person released an article, giving an overview of Xi Jinping’s visit to Africa ten years ago. The article showed the historical progress made in cooperation between China and Africa in the past ten years through many photos.
Former Tanzanian Ambassador to China Abdul Rahman said that Xi Jinping’s sincere views on Africa are of great importance. This is the basis for mutually beneficial cooperation between Africa and China. Professor Andrey Kovyas of Dar es Salaam University said that China and Tanzania have done a lot of cooperation in many areas. A Chinese medical team assisted Tanzania. China provided scholarships, which gave many Tanzanian students the opportunity to study in China.
China Media Group’s video was also broadcast in countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal etc. The audience said that China is a reliable partner. China has invested a lot in Africa, but does not interfere in our internal affairs. China supports countries in Africa and shares common interests.
