Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated various sports projects in Sundergarh district. The district is famous for producing many hockey players and athletes of national and international level.
Patnaik inaugurated the Birsa Munda Athletes Stadium Complex in Rourkela and three hockey training centers at Birsa, Lahunipada and Manchmara in Sundergarh district during his two-day visit to Rourkela.
On this occasion, the representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records presented Patnaik with the record certificate of the largest fully packed hockey stadium to Birsa Munda.
Significantly, this stadium, built in a record time of 15 months, has a seating capacity of 20,011 people.
