Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Zelenskyyy said China did not offer Kiev to discuss its peace plan for Ukraine

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had not received an offer from China to discuss a Chinese peace plan for a settlement in Ukraine, although he made it clear through diplomatic channels that he wanted to meet the Chinese leaders. He said this in an interview with the Japanese edition of Yomiuri Shimbun.

Ahead of his trip to Moscow to meet Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jingping said he planned to have a video call with the Ukrainian president after his visit, but so far that hasn’t happened.

The Ukrainian president also expressed skepticism about China’s 12-point proposal calling for a ceasefire and peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. In the same interview, Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Japanese government for supporting Ukraine.

Recall that last Tuesday Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida went to Kiev.
