Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Borrell threatened with sanctions for the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus

The European Union is ready to respond with new sanctions to the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. This was stated by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

“The deployment of Russian nuclear weapons by Belarus would mean an irresponsible escalation and a threat to European security. Belarus can stop that, it’s their choice. The EU is ready to react with new sanctions,” Borrell tweeted.

Recall that on the eve of Vladimir Putin said that Russia will deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. By July 1, the construction of a special storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons will be completed. The President also noted that on April 3, our country will begin to train Belarusian crews to work with aircraft converted to use tactical weapons.

In addition, the Iskander missile system was handed over to Minsk. At the same time, the head of state stressed that Russia does not transfer tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus, but only deploys its own.

The reason for these actions was, among other things, the decision of the United Kingdom to transfer shells containing depleted uranium to Ukraine. Vladimir Putin warned that the Russian Federation would be forced to react.
