Mike Tyson explains why he called David Benavidez a ‘Mexican monster’

Mike Tyson gave the reason for calling David Benavidez a “Mexican monster”, noting that he is a fan of the style Benavidez displays in his fights.

“He’s someone who is very polarizing and has too much power and intensity. I would be scared to fight him in this division too. No one wants to fight him and I don’t blame them,” Tyson told Esnews on Youtube. .

Benavidez was born in Arizona but is related to Mexico through his father José, who is from the state of Guerrero. From an early age, Benavidez moved to the United States, where he gradually began to carve his way into professional boxing.

David is also known by the nickname El Banner Roja, but in many of his fights he was proud of his Mexican roots and went into battle wearing the country’s flag and a sombrero. In addition to her Mexican ancestry, Benavidez also has Ecuadorian ancestry on her mother’s side.

David Benavidez and Caleb Plant will fight on March 25. At stake will be Benavidez’s interim WBC super middleweight title. Currently, Benavidez is 26-0 with 23 knockouts, while Caleb Plant is 22-1 with 13 knockouts.
