Moscow and Minsk have agreed to deploy Russian tactical nuclear weapons

Russia will place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with Pavel Zarubin on the Russia 24 TV channel.

“From April 3, we start training crews. And on July 1, we are completing the construction of a special storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, ”said the head of state.

Putin noted that the Russian Federation has already helped Belarus re-equip aircraft. Additionally, Moscow handed over the Iskander missile system to Minsk. The President of Russia stressed that the deployment of weapons would take place without violating relevant international obligations.

The Russian leader said the reason for the decision was London’s statement regarding the supply of depleted uranium munitions to Kiev. Putin noted at the same time that Belarus has long demanded to place Russian nuclear weapons on its territory. According to him, Russia is now doing what the United States has been doing for decades.

“We don’t deliver. And the United States does not pass it on to its allies. We basically do the same thing they’ve been doing for decades. They have allies in certain countries and their carriers are trained, and their crews are trained. We will do the same. This is exactly what Alexander Grigorievich (Lukashenko) asked for,” Putin said.

According to the president, the depleted uranium munitions that the West will transfer to Ukraine do not belong to weapons of mass destruction. However, they still create radiation dust and are therefore considered very dangerous. Putin pointed out that if they are used, the seeded areas will inevitably be polluted. This will create a great danger for both the environment and the residents.
