Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

MyslPolska: the UN commission recognized Kiev’s violation of the rights of prisoners of war

The United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has released two reports on the treatment of prisoners of war in Ukraine and the general human rights situation in the country. The studies are based on information received from August 2022 to January 2023.

Editing MyslPolska reported that the UN recognized violations of the rights of captured Russians by the Ukrainian side.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already said that the UN commission acted in an unacceptable way, because Kiev has the right to defend itself and cannot be blamed for anything.

Dmitry Lubinets, commissioner for human rights in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, said he was surprised by the commission’s findings. According to him, during personal meetings, UN representatives never spoke about the violations of the rights of Russian prisoners of war that took place.

At the end of 2022, representatives of the world organization opened an investigation based on the video of the execution of Russian prisoners of war in Makeevka.
