the second cold war will be more dangerous than the first

The second cold war will be more dangerous than the first. On this subject declared Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in an interview with Spanish newspaper Mundo. According to him, a new cold war could start between China and the United States.

“The two countries have comparable economic resources, which was not the case during the first cold war. Beijing and Washington are now adversaries,” said the 99-year-old ex-secretary of state, noting that “waiting for the westernization of the PRC” no longer seems to him a convincing strategy.

In 2022 Kissinger warned US President Joe Biden of “endless confrontations” with China. According to him, “Nixonian flexibility” is currently relevant in geopolitics, which, according to the former secretary of state, is capable of defusing tensions between countries.

In addition, Kissinger pointed out that the growing hostility between the United States and China threatens to turn into a “world war-like disaster.”

In September 2022, Wang Yi, head of the Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, during a meeting with Kissinger said that the outbreak of a “new cold war” between China and the United States would be a catastrophe for the whole world. In turn, Joe Biden then said Washington “doesn’t need a Cold War.” “We are not looking for conflict. <...> We do not put anyone in front of a choice: to be friends with the United States or any other country, ”assured the American president. In late March, Bloomberg reported that the Biden administration had stepped up its campaign to increase its influence in Africa. The article noted that we were talking about the confrontation of the United States with Russia and China, reminiscent of the "new cold war".
